My ex and I refused to do that when we got married. My MIL was so disappointed. She wanted to see us shove the cake in each others’ faces.
Really don’t do this without checking with whoever made your cake first. A lot of tiered cakes use wooden dowels to give them structural support. You could have someone’s eye out like that.
