A few more details:

  • This happened in Mexico, started last year.
  • No one is really against the measure itself, but most feel (myself included) it has a negligible impact on curbing poor eating habits, which is a real problem here and has deeper, more complex factors behind it. After all, it’s not the kids themselves who go out and buy their own cereal.
  • Some of the companies have been real babies about it, though. Not only they barely rearranged the box designs (making sure you know something’s missing), one company tried to circumvent this packaging ban by branding their mascot directly onto the pastries!
