Unlike all the other “natural” ghosts
Some time ago I watched “Whistle and I’ll come to you”, one of those old BBC Ghost Stories for Christmas, and for the first time I understood the significance of the “floating sheet” ghost -and found it absolutely terrifying. I mean, a presence that is there, but you’d never see it if it weren’t because it moves stuff as it gets around. Brrr.
Hey dude, didn’t know if you knew already but that BBC adaptation is based on the works of M R James who is famous for introducing the gothic elements to ghost stories in the 19th century. His collected short stories are well worth a read, pretty spooky to this day.
Enjoy your work, all the best,
Bill
Thanks! I did read the original short story, M R James is great. After watching it and Number 13 I immediately looked for the original stories. Turns out I’ve also stumbled on other adaptations of his work, like Night of the Demon. The man worked hard for terror, no cheap thrills.
Thanks for reading Bill!
