This is sweet in a way, but I really disagree with the message. It wasn’t your parents’ place to dictate what system you would play on. Even if you look back now and feel that they did in fact have superior taste, that doesn’t mean what they did was okay. They really *should* have respected your choices.
If they had gotten you what you wanted and you’d enjoyed it, what were they going to do, complain that you weren’t gaming right? And if they had gotten you what you wanted and you *hadn’t* enjoyed it, then maybe you could have learned the lesson back when you were a kid, instead of after several years of being repeatedly disrespected and disappointed.
Perhaps it was really just a matter of what they could afford and/or actually find in stores at the time and it was their money as well. It could also be that Nintendo had/has less violent games but then he got a PlayStation so I’m not sure.
