Long Live the King
Some achievements you just don’t want to get.
King of the Hill is one of those shows that has limited appeal: it’s too nuanced and has a very specific flavor. I personally love it: it has a lot of heart, great characters (freaking Peggy) and a relaxing quality you can’t find anywhere else. The real achievement comes from the fact that the series never really wavered in terms of quality, which for such a long running show is quite admirable. It was our go-to series when we couldn’t figure out what to watch next, as it was always guaranteed entertainment.
We finally got around to watch the last episodes (during its original run I only got to watch until season 8 ) and now it’s over. Sigh. Here’s to you, Mike Judge: may the new iteration of Beavis and Butthead have the success you deserve.
–P.A.
Have you seen Monk? my wife and i saw all 8 seasons in about 2 months. an average of 3 episodes a day. we really fell awkward when its finally over (it has a great great ending i might add, but the quality of the series is variable). Very few TV shows had us glued to the screen like that one. we miss Monk. it looks now that ‘how i met your mother’ is up to our expectations, but we already dropped it at mid-2nd season.
