He does have a point though, if this priceless robot is completely unsalvagable after a single punch from a standard issue robot, what other common things would completely annihilate it? Did the designers not expect it to ever trip, for example?
Well, it’s interesting you mention that because for me the fact that the advanced robot is too delicate or defenseless isn’t as troubling as the fact that the underlying problem behind the other robot’s aggression is never fixed. Its creators would rather put their resources in modifying the robot’s environment rather than change its behavior. They don’t feel they’re in the wrong: it’s the others who can’t take a simple punch.
That’s the realistic approach but it’s no less cynical for it.
Technology could be much more advanced and affordable if people learned and agreed to be careful with it. Instead, it has to be designed at great expense and limitations because it’s expected that the user will drop it in the toilet sooner or later. To fully explain this comic, the same could be said of attitudes: people can’t be tender, open or delicate with each other because they expose themselves to a brutal blow. Instead of dealing with toxic behavior, we are taught to be guarded and distrustful, which will in turn harden us and be the ones dealing the blows. And I think we’re missing out on something special because of this never ending cycle.
I would never have gotten the bullying reference until you mentioned it. Had it been humans, instead of robots, it may have been different. Bullies are losers. Sorry.
NICE observation!
Is this… symbolic of something?
Yes.

This comic is about bullying and victim blaming.
The only think I got from this comic is how the second team should have made a back-up. Computer science 101.

Going through your archive and they are great.

well…there is always a bigger fish
Imagine making a fantastic observation on human narure and society and everyone commenting missing the point *that* badly.
Wait, you don’t have to.
