Are those MDR-7506’s (MDR-V6’s)?
They can be repaired!
Check out page 2.
Wow, great eye! Mine are actually MDR-V500, and it’s actually the second time they break (after a loooong time and really heavy use). They are holding on for now thanks to some epoxy clay, but I’m relegating them as backups in favor of the Audio Technica ATH-M30, which are currently on their way.
Thanks for the tip, though, it put a smile on my face!
Losing a pair of headphones is kind of like losing a friend. I collect all the ones that break. With how often I use mine, I have quite the collection.
Oh man when I find out one of the speakers starts going it ruins my whole day. I never think “gee, I can’t wait to get new headphones”. If you are comfortable with a pair you really wish they’re the last ones you ever buy.
Putting these away also stings because they were a gift from my wife from shortly after we got married.
My headphones are holding together with tape, mecanno and hope.
To be honest the hope is looking a little worn.
