As the movie Lost In Translation can attest, it’s easy to fall into the trap of tackling culture clash in a “us vs. them” fashion, subtly hinting that “we” are right and “they” are wrong, all the while making a fool of yourself in the process. As a dumb westerner without a grasp of the language nor aware of the fact that bidets were so commonplace in Japan (though, really, I only went to the bathroom in hotels and airports), I must obviously stop short of blaming another country for not doing things my way. Hopefully this comic gets across that sense of confusion from stumbling blindly into unfamiliar yet very clean, very efficient systems. Not just in the bathroom, mind you.

And I did get the AC going, eventually.
